Alexa Pastoria President Alexa is a senior at GVSU majoring in Biology and Pre-professional preparation with an emphasis on pre-veterinary medicine. She is applying this cycle to vet school for Fall 2020. She is interested in small animal and equine; specializing in orthopedics. Alexa has studied abroad in Namibia her sophomore year learning about how the culture affects the environment through conservation. Her passions are riding horses and working at Camp Bow Wow GR Airport during the school year. In her free time, she loves going on runs with her three dogs and spending the weekends on her boat.
India Tailor Vice President India Tailor is going into her junior year here at GVSU as a biology major with an emphasis on pre-veterinary medicine. This will be her second year as an active member of the Pre-Vet Club, and first year on the E-board as Vice President. She is also involved with the Health Sciences Council as Relay for Life Chair. While India’s primary focus is on the Pre-Vet Club, she loves immersing herself in student life & plans to participate in many more clubs for the remainder of her academic career at Grand Valley. India spends most of her free time spoiling her rescue pup, Harley, cat, Kitty, & betta, Sushi. India’s career interests include canine rehabilitation, radiology,or emergency medicine.
Josh Barnes Treasurer Josh is a junior at Grand Valley, majoring in biology. His interests include zoo and exotic veterinary medicine, working in a zoo, or owning his own practice. He has experience working with small and large animals and works as a student researcher with Dr. Ostrow studying genetic development of Sugar Gliders. He previously worked at a small animal practice, volunteers with Crash’s cat sanctuary, and enjoys spending time with his dog, Ripley.
Emily Hogg Secretary Emily is a senior at Grand Valley State University and is majoring in biology with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine. Her main interests include exotics and shelter medicine. While home from school, she works at Camp Bow Wow St. Clair Shores dog daycare and has experience shadowing at small animal and exotic veterinary hospitals. She also enjoys spending time with her dog, Sophie.
Sam Super Public Relations Sam is a junior majoring in biology with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine. She is also a member of the Frederik Meijer Honors College. Sam is interested in small animal and exotic medicine and surgery! She works as a veterinary assistant in a general practice clinic over the summer. Sam is also involved in research with sugar gliders in the biology department. In her free time, she plays with her new little kitten, Luna, and practices yoga.
Aliyah Henderson Event Coordinator Aliyah is a sophomore at GVSU with a minor in Pre-Vet Med. She is interested in large animals zoology/wildlife vet with an emphasis in rehabilitation. She is a very visual and hands-on learner, so she cannot wait to get further in her veterinary education. In her free time, she loves to volunteer and gain shadowing experience by going to animal shelters and calf farms near her home. She doesn't currently have any fur babies, but it’s definitely a plan for the future. She also has a soft spot for wolves and Peregrine Falcons!
Arianna Watson Fundraising Chair Arianna is in her 5th year here at Grand Valley completing a Biology major with two minors in Chemistry and Business. She has been working towards being a veterinarian since she was in kindergarten. Arianna has two cats at home, Merry and Keegan. She has been working in the veterinary field for 6 years at an animal hospital in Plymouth, MI. Last spring, she did an internship at a horse stable that specializes in horses that need special attention. Working at the hospital and the stables has shown her that she wants to own her own practice someday that will care for all domesticated animals, i.e. large, small and exotic. Arianna has also been playing Dungeons and Dragons for 3 years and she feels that it has helped build her communication and problem-solving skills.
Emily Lonskey Webmaster Emily is a sophomore at Grand Valley State University. She is a Biology major with a Pre-Veterinary Medicine Emphasis. She is a peer mentor at the Women in Science and Engineering Living and Learning Community who helps to plan events and hold study sessions. She is interested in exotics, large animal, wildlife, and zoo med. She has had pet rats, a tortoise, fish, cats, and dogs. She hopes to become involved in animal behavior research and get her DVM at Michigan State University. Her hobbies include writing, drawing, and hanging out with her pets and human friends.
